A Maryland man who tried to pull off a driveway paving scam in West Penn Township will spend time in jail.

Leonard M. Stanley Jr.

, 26, of Bel Air, pleaded guilty in two of three cases against him.

In the first, he pleaded to deceptive business practice and theft by deception.

In the second, he pleaded guilty to giving false identification to law enforcement and unsworn falsification to authorities.

The third case involved deceptive business practice and theft by deception, charges that were dropped.

Stanley was charged by township police with deceptive business practice and theft by deception on Dec. 12, 2016.

They also charged him with giving false identification to law enforcement and unsworn falsification to authorities on May 22, 2017.

Schuylkill County President Judge William E. Baldwin sentenced Stanley to a total of nine to 23 months in jail, followed by 12 months on probation.

Baldwin also ordered Stanley to pay $1,200 restitution.

Stanley faced similar charges in Palmerton.

Baldwin also accepted guilty pleas from the following people charged by local police.

Jarih O. Martinez-Ferman

, 27, of New Ringgold, was charged by the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office with driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person; eight counts of recklessly endangering another person; failure to drive at a safe speed; driving over divider; and operating vehicle without required financial responsibility on Jan. 31, 2015.

All but the DUI and reckless endangering charges were dropped.

Baldwin sentenced him to 48 hours to six months in jail, followed by 12 months on probation.

Martinez-Ferman was also ordered to pay $5,675 restitution, perform 10 hours of community service, and fined $500.

Samantha L. Kuntz

, 29, of Lehighton, was charged by Tamaqua police with unsworn falsification to authorities, forged/altered document; unsworn falsification to authorities, false sample/object; hindering apprehension/prosecution, false info to law enforcement; false identification to law enforcement officer; and driving while her license was suspended on April 21, 2017.

Kutz pleaded guilty to giving false identification to law enforcement; the other charges were dropped.

Baldwin sentenced her to 12 months on probation.

Christine Oxner

, 46, of Andreas, was charged by Tamaqua police with possession of drug paraphernalia on Jan. 31, 2018.

Baldwin sentenced her to 12 months on probation.

Ian P. McGregor

, 33, of Coaldale, was charged by Tamaqua police with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, aggravated assault, and defiant trespass on June 16, 2017.

He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 12 months on probation. The remaining charges were dropped.

Nicole M. Schrepple

, 33, of Weissport, was charged by Pottsville police with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one of possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to keep right on July 31, 2016.

She pleaded guilty to the drug-related charges, and Baldwin sentenced her to 12 months on probation.
