Northern Lehigh School Board
Northern Lehigh School Board took the following action on Monday:
• Approved the administrative transfer of Sheila Steier from part-time cook’s helper to full-time second shift custodian, at a salary of $13.07 per hour, from 2:30-11 p.m., five days per week, effective June 4.
• Accepted the resignation of Shelly Pender from her position as middle school cafeteria/hall monitor, effective the end of the 2017-18 school year.
• Approved Dawn DeWalt as second shift custodian, at a salary of $13.07 per hour, from 2:30-11 p.m., five days per week, effective June 4.
• Appointed Elizabeth Doll as a secondary detention monitor for the senior high school, and Connie Check as a substitute secondary detention monitor for the senior high school, both for the 2018-19 school year, with work to be on an as-needed-basis, and compensation at a salary of $20 per hour worked.
• Approved Bryce Allen, Jacob Bachman, Jennifer Haas and Cory Hammond, along with two people to be approved retroactively, if necessary, as summertime maintenance/custodial helpers for summer 2018 at a salary of $15 per hour.
• Agreed to hire Stephen Shuey as the supervisor for the high school summertime helpers for summer 2018 at a salary of $15 per hour to be paid from the high school budget.
• Approved Cole Hankee, John Kline, Samantha Papay and Courtney Trumbore as high school summertime helpers for summer 2018 at a salary of $7.25 per hour, to be paid from the high school budget.
• Approved Madison Hoffman as student representative to the board for the 2018-19 school year. Madison has been appointed as the junior representative to the board, and will serve from September 2018 through June 2019. Preston Kemery will serve as the senior student representative to the board until June 2019.
• Granted Jon Prive permission to attend the AP Language and Composition — College Board of Drew University Summer Institute, Aug. 6-9 in Madison, New Jersey, with the cost of registration $895, lodging $445, and travel $65, for a total cost of about $1,405, to be funded from the high school professional development budget.
• Granted Michelle Raber permission to attend the 97th annual PA State Association for Health, PE, Recreation & Dance Convention, Nov. 9-10, in Seven Springs, with the cost of registration $110, lodging $314, and travel, $250, for a total cost of about $674, to be funded from the middle school professional development budget.
• Granted Krystle Tiedeman permission to attend the American Library Association Leadership Institute, Aug. 5-9, at a cost of $1,650, which includes registration, lodging and meals, to be funded from the high school professional development budget.
• Authorized proper officials to execute a five-year Field Experience Agreement between the district and Indiana University of Pennsylvania for an internship, practicum and clinical experience program.
• Agreed to expulsion hearing waiver for a student. The student and guardian have agreed to waive their right to a formal expulsion hearing in front of the school board, and have also agreed to disciplinary action outlined in the waiver.
