Schuylkill Commissioner Gary J. Hess and his and his wife, Sandy Hess, will be honored on June 14 at The Hawk Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America’s Service to Youth and Community breakfast.
The council will host the fourth annual breakfast at the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation in Schuylkill Haven.
This year’s event is being chaired by Tim Twardzik. The breakfast is a fundraising event that will provide those in attendance an opportunity to network with others, learn about the scouting programs from the scouts themselves, and is an opportunity for the council to recognize local citizens who have provided exemplary community service that has improved the quality of life in Schuylkill and Carbon counties.
This year’s recipients of the Distinguished Service to Youth and Community Award will be Gary and Sandy Hess for their continued support of the community.
The council will also recognize Glenn Lesher and Brenda Oliver with the Distinguished Service to Youth and Community Award.
The funds raised from the breakfast will assist with the services provided to the packs, troops, venture crews, STEM scouts and Explorer Posts in Schuylkill County and parts of Carbon County. Training for adult leaders, activities, Scouting for Food, camping programs and Camperships are but a few of the activities and services provided by the Hawk Mountain Council.
