A Carbon County man was sentenced to a county prison term on a fleeing police charge.

Johnathan Robert Exner, 27, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve nine to one day less 24 months on the charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police. He was arrested on April 17, 2017, by Mahoning Township police after leading them on a pursuit over various streets in the township. He previously pleaded to the charge. He was originally charged with 20 counts.

Before the sentencing proceeding, Exner pleaded to charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension — DUI related. He was arrested on those charges on March 4 by Lehighton police along Route 443. Methamphetamine was found.

On the drug count he was sentenced to serve three to 12 months in prison, and on the suspension charge 90 days and a $500 fine. The jail terms run concurrently. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation.

Exner is currently an inmate in the county prison serving a probation violation term.

The terms run concurrent to his present sentence.
