Results from weekend checkpoint

Six drivers were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint in Polk Township from late Friday night to early Saturday morning.

State Police from the Lehighton station set up the checkpoint on Route 209 near the intersection with Mill Pond Road from 9 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday.

In addition to the six arrests for driving under the influence, three people were arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance, and 18 drivers were cited for various violations of the vehicle code.
