Summit Hill man charged with endangering the welfare of his child

A Summit Hill man has been charged with endangering the welfare of his child.

Timothy Doyne, 33, of West Ridge Street, faces the charge after his 7-year-old son left his house and was later found in Lansford.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by the Summit Hill Police Department:

At 12:44 p.m. May 20, police received a dispatch from the Carbon County Communications Center stating that a small child was walking down the hill into Lansford.

An individual made contact with the child and took him into protective custody.

The child stated that his father, Doyne, kicked him out of the residence.

An officer met up with the individual at the corner of West Ridge and North Chestnut streets in Summit Hill, where they made contact with the child’s parents.

The officer spoke with Doyne, who said that he was supervising the child.

The child asked to go to a friend’s address in Lansford, so Doyne told him to go ahead, not believing the child would actually do it.

Subsequently, the child left the residence and ended up on Route 902 in Lansford.

Doyne refused to provide a written statement of the events.

He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. June 27 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
