Charges of endangering the welfare of a child have been filed by Summit Hill police against a borough man who police said let a child roam the streets of the borough while wearing just a diaper.
Andrew Manno, 37, of the 100 block of East Holland Street, was charged after he called 911 to report the child was missing.
But police said they were dispatched to the area of Holland Street and Route 902 at 10:12 a.m. May 15 when it was reported the child was reportedly in the vicinity of the major highway.
Police said the child was brought back to the police headquarters where attempts were made to find the child’s identity. Police said the child was not clean and was wearing only the diaper.
At 10:56 a.m., police said Manno called 911 to report the child missing and was instructed by police to report to the police station.
There, he was advised of his Miranda rights, which he waived and gave a statement to police saying he was awake at 8 a.m. and went back to sleep, only to awaken between 9-10 a.m. to find the child missing.
