Nesquehoning will host an electronics recycling event held in the borough on May 17.
The event, which will take place from 2-5 p.m. or until the truck is full at 50 E. Locust St., will take the following items free of charge: desktop and laptop computers, keyboards and mice, printers, fax machines, cables and cords, telephones and cellphones with batteries removed, cellphone and laptop batteries, calculators and adding machines, UPS battery backups, toner and ink cartridges, audio visual equipment, filing cabinets, DVD players and VCRs, gaming systems, string Christmas lights, microwaves and small appliances, metal items, exercise equipment, car batteries (sealed lead acid), bed frames and rain spouting.
Additional items can be recycled but include a fee.
They are: washers and dryers, $20; dishwashers, $20; televisions under 40 inches, $35 all types; wooden cabinet, projection, big-screen televisions, $55; tube-type CRT monitors, $15; LCD monitors, $10; air conditioners, $25; dehumidifiers, $25; refrigerators, $30; floor freezers, $30; stoves (ranges), $20; floor copiers, $20; and console stereos in cabinet, $35.
Televisions must be complete. No broken TVs will be accepted.
Destruction services are available for a fee, including off-site hard drive destruction, $10 per drive; and off-site document destruction, $10 per standard paper-size box. Both include a certificate of destruction.
Only cash and checks accepted. Checks should be made payable to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS.
