Schuylkill man jailed for arson, assault
A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Saturday charged with assault and intentionally setting his home on fire.
State police at Frackville identified the suspect as Theodore Sadoski, 54, of Goose Pond Road in East Brunswick Township. The home is about 4 miles east of New Ringgold.
According to troopers about 2 p.m. they were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at Sadoski’s reisdence. Troopers learned that a female victim had fled the home to a neighbor’s residence and reported she had been struck with a club and threatened with a firearm by Sadoski.
When troopers made contact with Sadoski, he set a fire in the kitchen area and fled on foot to a wooded area adjacent to the residence. Troopers at the scene used fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire. Troopers then searched for Sadoski. With the help of West Penn Township police Sadoski was located as a passenger in a vehicle and taken into custody without incident.
Trooper Joseph Hall, deputy fire marshal, responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the fire. The victim was treated at the scene by members of the New Ringgold Community Ambulance unit. Also responding was volunteers from the New Ringgold and West Penn Township fire companies. Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks also assisted at the scene.
Sadoski was arraigned by on-call District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, on charges of arson, aggravated and simple assault and related offenses. He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $100,000 straight cash bail.
