Local Sports Roundup: Results from May 10

Panther Valley and Tamaqua split its games on Thursday.

The Panthers won the baseball game, while the Blue Raiders gained a shutout in the softball contest.

In other action, the Pleasant Valley girls lacrosse team also earned a victory.

BASEBALL

Tamaqua-Panther Valley

Panther Valley jumped out to an early lead en route to a 7-3 non-league win over Tamaqua.

Aaron Miller had three hits, including a double, for the Panthers (11-7), who got all of their runs in the first three innings. Jon Hafer, Mason Goida, Bradley Buzzard and Jacob Taras all had two hits apiece, while Tristan Blasko blasted a solo homer in the first inning to kick-start the offense.

Nate Boyle collected a double among his two hits, while Casey Rother added a solo home run in the fourth inning for the Blue Raiders (9-9).

Jim Thorpe picked up a 13-7 non-league win over Northern Lehigh.

Tamaqua-Panther Valley

Jada Schellhammer recorded 12 strikeouts and scattered four hits as Tamaqua downed Panther Valley 11-0 in Schuylkill League action.

Miranda Chinchar led the way at the plate for the Blue Raiders, going 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Jane Kupchinsky also had two hits and two RBIs for Tamaqua (16-4).

Megan Pascoe chipped in two hits for the Panthers (6-12).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pleasant Valley-Quakertown

Juliana Lopez led Pleasant Valley to an 18-7 non-league win over Quakertown.

Lopez finished with 10 goals and reached 100 points for the season. Alyssa Lopez scored three times, while Alyssa Grieco and Sarah Kaye each had two goals for the Bears (10-7).

Senior goalie Adriana Picca saved her 100th career shot in the victory.
