Panthers hurl a combined no-hitter

A pair of Panther Valley pitchers combined for a no-hitter in a baseball victory over Lincoln Leadership on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

Lincoln Leadership-

Panther Valley

Mark Kokinda and Zach Kindt combined to toss a four-inning no-hitter as Panther Valley rolled to a 16-1 mercy-rule victory in the non-league game.

Kokinda worked three innings and struck out six before Kindt finished it up.

Kindt was the offensive leader for the Panthers with two hits and three RBIs. Jake Taras added two hits and two RBIs.

The victory improves the Panthers’ record to 9-7.

Northwestern-Catasauqua

Northwestern posted a 9-5 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.

For the Tigers, Trevor Schreiner had a single, a triple, two runs scored and an RBI; Derek Holmes added a single, a triple, a run scored and two RBIs; Tyler Wiik recorded two singles, two walks and three RBIs; and Jake Haas chipped in with a double and two runs scored.

North Schuylkill used a late inning surge to run away with a 14-4 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

Nate Boyle had two singles and two RBIs for the Raiders. Thad Zuber added a double and an RBI.

A six-run opening inning sparked Northwestern to a 12-0 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.

Molly Mitman had two singles, two runs scored and an RBI for the Tigers. Emily Akelaitis and Natalie Smith both added two singles, a run scored and an RBI.

A seven-run fourth inning propelled Tamaqua to a 13-2 non-league win over Tri-Valley.

Jane Kupchinsky had two singles, two runs scored and three RBIs for the Raiders. Courtney Hoffman finished with a single, double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Taylar Donnon posted two singles, a run scored and two RBIs.
