Hunger walk postponed in Tamaqua

Due to a forecast of rain tonight and all day Sunday, the Tamaqua Hunger Walk is postponed to May 20.

The fifth annual Tamaqua Community Hunger Walk will be held beginning at 2 p.m. from the Tamaqua Community Art Center on Pine Street in Tamaqua.

A fellowship and celebration time with ice cream immediately follows the walk at the Art Center. Individuals, organizations and businesses will be recognized for their work in the 2018 community hunger campaign.

Community organizations can still collect canned and dry goods which will be split among the three food banks serving nearly 300 families in the community.

Last year’s Hunger Walk raised $5,350 and collected 112 boxes of food that was split evenly among food pantries at the Tamaqua Salvation Army, Trinity United Church of Christ and Primitive Methodist Church.

Hunger Walk registration and sponsorship forms are available online at www.taff.org. For more information or to have collected food items picked up contact Paul Dodson at 570-668-0289 ordodsonp18252@gmail.com.

The walk is an activity of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network, a 501c-3 non-profit under the umbrella of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
