Time left to purchase banners for Lehighton Hometown Heroes project

Interest in Lehighton’s Hometown Heroes Banners project remains high.

To further cement that, members of the Lehighton United Veterans Organization will be at the American Legion Post No. 314 in Lehighton the next two Saturdays for those who still wish to purchase banners.

Kevin Long, Commander of the Lehighton UVO, said members will be at their home base at 11 a.m. Saturday, as well as on May 12, due to the “outstanding response from our Hometown Heroes banners project.”

Long said the Lehighton UVO is “very pleased with the response of this Hometown Heroes Banners project.”

“It is great that so many people are participating in this project,” Long said. “It will definitely be a grand sight to see all those men and women who served or are still serving in our armed forces being posted throughout the borough of Lehighton.”

Long said the banners will be placed throughout the borough and will feature military personnel.

He said the banners will honor area men and women who have served and continue to serve our country during any time of service.

Long noted that the program — which got underway last month — will acknowledge the borough’s “very large veteran presence.”

He said each banner will cost $200, which includes a 30-by-60-inch banner, along with the brackets and hardware.

Long said anyone interested in a banner may pick up a form at the Legion, or from any of the Legion members.

Forms must be filled out and returned with a photo of the soldier and payment, and should include the full name of person and photo of service person, branch of service, and any war or campaign.

Checks should be made payable to: United Veterans Organization, 314 Veterans Ave., Lehighton, PA 18235.

Anyone with questions may contact Long at 610-377-9736 or 484-629-0013.
