Concert at library
A spring concert held at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., at 7 p.m. May 11 will feature Douglas Ladnier accompanied by Sherry Freund on the piano.
He is an award-winning singer and songwriter and has appeared in more than 60 countries around the world and on Broadway.
Douglas will perform songs from many popular Broadway shows such as “South Pacific,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Camelot,” “A Chorus Line” and many more.
This show is open to all. A freewill offering will be collected at the door.

Spring band concert
A spring band concert will be held at the Palmerton Area High School at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The junior and senior high bands will perform. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Breakfast
An “Early Mother’s Day” breakfast will be held at the Parryville Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St. from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Large and small platters are available.
The menu includes eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, SOS, ham, bacon, sausage, scrapple, home fries, juice and coffee.
There will be little something for all the mothers who come out.
Barbecue, filling sale
Parryville Fire Co. No. 2 will be holding a barbecue and filling sale. Advance orders are due by May 14 and may be picked up at the fire company, 359 Main St., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 19. For orders and more information, please call Ellen at 610-852-2545.
Basket bash
St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton will hold their annual basket bash from 4-7 p.m. on May 7. Refreshments will be available for sale, and the drawing will be at 7 p.m.
Knitting club
The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on May 7 and the first Monday of each month, from 6-8 p.m. The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels.
Quilt guild
The Sew What Quilt Guild will meet at the Palmerton Area Library at 7 p.m. May 10 and the second Thursday of each month.
New members and visitors are always welcome.

Family history
Do you know who your family is? There’s a chance to find out. Come to the Palmerton Area Library from 6-7:30 p.m. May 8 and the second Tuesday of each month, to learn how to research your family history.
Free community meal
A free community meal will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. May 8 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.
The menu will consist of meatloaf, buttered noodled, corn and assorted desserts.
Come and enjoy the meal and fellowship.
Plant sale
The Palmerton Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual Spring-A’Fair Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 10 and 11.
Plants will be sold at the main entrance of St. Luke’s Palmerton Campus, 135 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton.
Many quality plants will be for sale including hanging baskets, potted plants, flats of bedding plants, annuals and perennials, herbs and more.
