Northwestern tops Knights
The Northwestern baseball and softball teams picked up wins against Pen Argyl on Wednesday.
Tamaqua, Palmerton and Marian also earned victories in softball action.
BASEBALL
Pen Argyl-Northwestern
Northwestern used a 10-run sixth inning to claim a 16-6 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.
Trevor Schreiner had the hot bat for the Tigers with a double, two home runs, four runs scored and four RBIs, while Tyler Wiik followed with a double, a home run, a single, three RBIs and a run scored.
Derek Holmes joined the long-ball crew with a home run, a single, four RBIs, and a run scored.
Jake Haas and Rafe Perich also had three hits apiece for Northwestern.

Bangor-Northern Lehigh
Bangor jumped out early with a six-run barrage over the first two innings, and held off a surging Northern Lehigh, to secure an 8-7 Colonial League win.
After surrendering a 6-0 lead to the Slaters, the Bulldogs made up the runs with a two-run third and an four-run fifth inning.
Aaron Rudolph led the Bulldogs with two singles and a RBI, while both Caleb Wanamaker and Chase Misera added a single, a run scored and an RBI.

Notre Dame of Green Pond pushed across two runs in the top of the 11th inning to grab a 4-2 Colonial League win over Palmerton.
Ben Serfass paced the Bombers’ attack with two singles and a double, while Tekoah Guedes added two singles.

Shenandoah Valley came out with a 5-3 Schuylkill League win over Marian.
Alex Kubishin led the Colts with a single, double and a run scored, while Quest Wilson chipped in with two singles and an RBI.
Max Nolter added a double, two walks and an RBI for Marian.

Lehighton-North Schuylkill
A seven-run sixth inning put North Schuylkill over the top in a 12-4 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.
The Indians’ Noah Sensinger finished 3-for-4, including three singles and a run scored. Zach Crum followed with two singles, a run scored and an RBI.
Randy Bongiorno added two RBIs.

Pen Argyl-Northwestern
Northwestern used a late-inning rally to come away with a 4-3 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl.
The Tigers’ Cassidy Lentz delivered what turned out to be a game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning. Molly Mitman had a single, double, walk, run scored and an RBI, while Gina Marrazzo added two hits and a run scored for the Tigers.

Pottsville-Tamaqua
A nine-run opening inning gave Tamaqua all it needed to secure a 15-0 Schuylkill League win over Pottsville.
Miranda Chinchar sparked the Blue Raiders’ attack with a single, a double, a two-run home run, three runs scored and an RBI, while Jada Schellhammer added a three-run homer, single, run scored and four RBIs.
Brooke Zellner (two singles, run scored, RBI) and Courtney Hoffman (two singles, four runs scored, stolen base, walk, hit-by-pitch) contributed to the Blue Raiders’ victory.

Lyndsey Reinoehl had a career day in helping aid in a Marian 16-0 Schuylkill League win over Shenandoah Valley.
Reinoehl tossed three innings of shutout ball, only surrendering one hit to the Blue Devils. She also struck out five. Reinoehl also led the Fillies’ offensive attack with a double, home run, two runs scored and four RBIs.
Teammates Lacey Blasko (two singles, two runs scored, two RBIs), Katrina Horvath (two singles, three runs scored, an RBI) and Mia Nemeth (two singles, two runs scored) all contributed to the victory.

Palmerton rolled to a 14-4 Colonial League win over Notre Dame (Green Pond).
Paige Frantz was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, Paige Shupp went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and Bryanna Driscoll added three hits, knocked in four runs and scored three times to lead the Bombers’ attack. Madison Wenig and Kailah Altemose (two RBIs) had two hits apiece, while Lindsey Shimko drove in two and scored a run. Baylee Guedes collected a hit and an RBI.

Bangor used strong middle innings in a 5-2 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

Pleasant Valley’s seventh inning fell a run short as Pocono Mountain East escaped with a 12-11 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win.
Cameron Caffrey paced the Bears with three singles, a run scored and two RBIs, while Madison Rosenberg followed with a home run, two singles, three runs scored and an RBI.
The Bears’ trio of Lauren Steckel (two singles, run scored, RBI), Tyler Wotal (two singles, two run scored, RBI) and Skyler Jennings (single, double, run scored, two RBIs) also contributed at the plate.
