Jim Thorpe students present ‘Grease’

Get ready for those “Summer Nights,” because Jim Thorpe Area High School’s production of “Grease” is right around the corner.

Natalie Kmetz will direct the school’s rendition of the classic musical, where bad-boy Danny Zuko and good-girl Sandy Dumbrowski share a summer romance, only to find themselves at odds with one another’s cliques once school starts again.

Anthony Ortiz and Brielle Long star as Zuko and Dumbrowski, with Jim Thorpe’s talented pool of performers rounding out the cast of T-Birds, Pink Ladies and more.

“It’s the third time we’re doing ‘Grease’ at Jim Thorpe, and I absolutely love it,” Kmetz said.

“The show is fun, the music is great, and the kids had a wonderful time doing it.”

“Grease” features plenty of memorable hits, including “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightning!” and “You’re the One That I Want.”

Kmetz said the students nailed their performances and had a great time with the music.

“They absolutely fell in love with all of the old songs. Even though they like their own music, they just loved them. Even when you go home, you find yourself singing these songs. It’s absolutely interesting and fun,” she said.

The show runs at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Jim Thorpe Area High School. Tickets are $5.
