Local Sports Roundup: Results from May 1
Pleasant Valley posted victories in four sports on Tuesday.
The Bears received wins from their baseball, softball, girls lacrosse, and boys lacrosse teams.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Northampton-
Pleasant Valley
Big games from Juliana Lopez and Savannah Bauman powered Pleasant Valley to an 18-6 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Northampton.
Lopez scored eight goals and added two assists, while Bauman found the back of the net six times and also had two assists.
Meghan Hallenbeck scored once and added three assists for Pleasant Valley (7-7).
BASEBALL
Pleasant Vy.-ES South
A balanced offensive attack propelled Pleasant Valley to an 11-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over East Stroudsburg South.
Trevor Knappenberger, Evan Bond and Danny McEvoy all had two hits and two RBIs for the Bears (9-5). Nick Gattuso also collected two hits, while Brent Beck added a double and an RBI.
McEvoy allowed six hits in six innings of work, striking out five without allowing a walk to earn the win on the mound.

Marian rallied and turned back a late Western Wayne surge to pick up a 14-13 non-league win.
Max Nolter was 2-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs as the Colts (9-6) scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dante Agosti (two RBIs, two runs scored) and Ryan Cappel (RBI, two runs scored) both had two hits.
Zane Janiszewdrz, Bailey Walck and Logan Bolduc all hit homers for Western Wayne, which scored three times in the top of the seventh inning.

Panther Valley took advantage of some wildness by Mahanoy Area pitchers to claim a 15-7 Schuylkill League Division 3 victory.
The Panthers didn’t have an extra-base hit as Golden Bear hurlers issued 15 free passes in the contest.
Sacory Stewart, Josh Robin, Bradley Buzzard and Zachary Kindt all had hits for Panther Valley (7-6; 4-6).

Catasauqua erupted in the bottom of the seventh inning to top Northern Lehigh 7-6 in Colonial League play.
Jayden June was 3-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored for the Rough Riders, who scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to win it. Catty’s Cory Raysley, Zach Bilder and Cam Ritter (two RBIs) all had two hits apiece.
Gio Colon was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Bulldogs (4-11). Leadoff hitter Brandon Hess went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Mason Seiler added two hits and scored a run.

Kaitlin Hoffman smashed a grand slam and Northern Lehigh cruised to a 15-3 Colonial League win over Saucon Valley.
Hoffman finished with six RBIs, including her blast in the bottom of the fourth inning, two hits and three runs scored. Lauren Hoffman (run scored, triple, two RBIs), Shyanna Williams (two runs scored, RBI) and Paige Hude (two runs scored, RBI) all had two hits for the Bulldogs (13-3).

Northwestern
Northwestern swept a Colonial League doubleheader against Moravian Academy.
A huge first inning was all Northwestern needed to secure a 16-0 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy in the first game.
Molly Mitman had a two-run homer as the Tigers scored all of their runs in the opening frame. Kayla Mitman went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a double, and Emily Akelaitis added two hits and drove in three runs.
Cassidy Lentz had four strikeouts without allowing a hit in the three-inning victory.
Northwestern used another quick start in the second game to notch another 16-0 win.
Sam Sisco (three RBIs) and Molly Mitman (three doubles, RBI) both had three hits for the Tigers.

Morgan Frantz was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored for the Bears (6-8), who broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the bottom of the third inning. Riley Wagner added two hits and drove in a run.
Madison Rosenberg scored two runs while also collecting a double and two RBIs, and Cameron Caffrey scored a run and drove in a pair.
