Two face charges after 1-81 crashes

State police at Frackville reported two people are facing charges after crashes along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.

A crash was reported at 2:25 p.m. on April 23 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Christopher Brennan, 40, of Girardville, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu southbound in the left lane when the tie rod broke on the front right wheel causing him to lose control. The car slid to the left shoulder, then crossed both southbound lanes and onto the shoulder where it impacted with a stone embankment.

Troopers said Brennan ran from the crash scene. He is facing charges.

The car received extensive damages and was towed.

The second crash occurred at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday in Butler Township. Jesse J. Levan, 18, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2000 Chrysler Sebring southbound when the vehicle left the lane of travel and struck a concrete barrier along the west berm. The car was towed from the scene.

Troopers said Levan showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was taken to the barracks for a breath test. The test showed he was over the legal limit of 0.08 BAC. Charges of driving under the influence will be filed.
