Mahoning Drive-In Theater’s famous marquee will be up and ready for Friday’s show, now that a stop work order has been overturned.
Zoning officer Carl Faust has permitted Mazzella Enterprises to complete the project, which entails adding the signature arrow and raised lettering spelling out “Mahoning Drive-In” to the sign.
“We were given the OK. The work cease order was lifted. We sent in our payment today. Of course, we lost the four days we needed to get ready before reopening date, but, no worries,” Mazzella business manager Demetri Patitsas said.
To commemorate the rebirth of the sign, the theater and Mazzella will host a special unveiling at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Along with the presentation of the marquee, Mazzella employees will place a time capsule in the structure to commemorate the event.
