Holy Trinity news
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday. This will be a healing service. Adult Sunday school is at 9 a.m. and Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.
Contest winners
In honor of National Library Month, the Palmerton Area Library recently held its annual bookmark contest for children in preschool through sixth grade. The winners are for preschool through kindergarten: 1. Gunner Wentz, 2. Iliana Green, 3. Harper Hahn. Grades 1-3: 1. Victoria Thomas, 2. Julianna Williams, 3. Harper Lake. Grades 4-6: 1. Joshua Merkel, 2. Taylor Keblish, 3. Erika Pysher.
Each winner received a gift certificate for Claude’s Creamery and a gift certificate for the library book sale. Congratulations to all the winners and to all who entered the contest. The bookmarks are now available at the library checkout desk for all patrons.
Fiber guild
The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild explores all things related to fiber arts (spinning, weaving, etc.) Come check out the group at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the first Tuesday of each month at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave.
Cruise nights
The Pace-Makers Association of the Palmerton Area is gearing up for its Cruise Nights in the Palmerton Borough Park. The first date is May 4 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Must be out of the park by 9 p.m. Come out and enjoy an evening of car talk The Pace-Makers benefit area recreation.
Persian donut sale
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) is taking orders for Persian Donuts. All orders are due by May 6. Pickup is from 9 until 11 a.m. May 17 at the church. Please call the church at 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403 to place orders. Cost is $1.25 each.
Pancake breakfast
A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. May 5 at the First United Church of Christ, 457 Delaware Ave, Palmerton. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, orange juice and other drinks. Baked goods will be available for purchase. The breakfast is a fundraiser for Girl Scout Troop 301’s Disney trip.
Food pantry
The Food Pantry for Palmerton Area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.
The Palmerton Food Bank is in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items and monetary donations. If you can help, please bring food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis. Your help is greatly appreciated.
