Local Sports Roundup: Results from April 24
Palmerton’s baseball team and Tamaqua’s softball team both scored in their final at-bats to gain wins on Tuesday.
Northwestern also rolled to a victory in baseball.
BASEBALL
Wilson-Palmerton
Owen Reis scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning to help lift Palmerton to a 2-1 Colonial League win over Wilson.
Winning pitcher Brody Boehler allowed just five hits in his six innings of work, while Ryan King struck out the side in the seventh to earn the save.
Boehler, Tanner Burnett, Tekoah Guedes and Jake Taschler accounted for the Blue Bombers’ four hits. Guedes also collected an RBI, while Burnett scored a run.

Northwestern rolled to a 19-3 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy.
Rafe Perich sparked the Tigers with a single, two triples, three runs scored and four RBIs, while Trevor Schreiner added a single, two triples, three runs scored and three RBIs.
Austin Stasko (two singles, two runs, three RBIs) and Jake Haas (two singles, two RBIs) also contributed to the victory.

Pine Grove scored in every inning to gain a 14-3 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.
Nick Keiser paced the Cardinals with three singles, two runs scored and five RBIs, while Jake Leininger chipped in with two singles and three runs.
The Indians’ Chris Whiteman finished with a single, double and two runs, while Noah Sensinger had the other Lehighton hit.

Tri-Valley rallied in the late innings to earn a 5-4 Schuylkill League win over Marian.
The Bulldogs, who trailed 4-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning, received a single, triple, run scored and RBI from Chase Herb, while Will Kimmel added two singles and two walks.
Alex Kubishin led the Colts with three singles, a run scored and an RBI, while Matt Doherty contributed two singles and a run scored.

North Schuylkill-Jim Thorpe
North Schuylkill’s Brandon Rockwell tossed a five-inning no-hitter to help his team gain a 14-0 Schuylkill League victory.
Rockwell struck out seven batters and also contributed three hits and two RBIs at the plate.
The Spartans also received a home run from Reggie Crawford.

Tamaqua scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to gain a 6-4 Schuylkill League win over Blue Mountain.
Miranda Chinchar led off the ninth with a single, stole second and scored the eventual game-winning run on a Jada Schellhammer RBI double. Jen Frederickson followed with an RBI single to plate courtesy runner Bryn Miller with an insurance run.
Schellhammer led the Blue Raiders with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI, while Chinchar recorded two singles, a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Courtney Hoffman (two singles, two stolen bases), Brooke Zellner (two singles), Frederickson (single, double, RBI) and Kaitlyn Stauffenberg (single, double, RBI) all contributed with multiple hits.

The Palmerton boys and girls both earned a split in a Colonial League tri-meet.
Both Blue Bomber teams defeated Northern Lehigh, but lost to Notre Dame. The Bulldogs ended up being swept in the meet
Madison Martinez (100H, 300H), Jacob Martinez (800, 1600) and Jordan Nelson (110H, long jump) all won two events for Palmerton, while Northern Lehigh’s Franki Dibilio (shot put, discus) also was a multiple-event winner.
