A portion of Mahoning Township is without power Sunday after a utility pole burned off near a transformer. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon along Fairview Drive off West Side Drive.

A short in the system apparently caused the incident with the pole burning off and hanging by a wire. Mahoning fire company officers blocked off the road for safety concern.

PPL Utility crews arrived on scene at 3 p.m. It is unknown how many customers are affected by the incident.
