Restaurant Week offers taste of Carbon County

Get ready food fanatics, because it’s time to get a Taste of Carbon County at Restaurant Week.

“Restaurant Week is a way to introduce the public to different restaurants we have in Carbon County, and to promote them,” Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation marketing manager Dina Tulli Davis said.

“The chamber is all about making connections, people to people, and we want to highlight all the great restaurants we have in Carbon County.”

Marlyn Kissner, executive director and vice president of the northern region at the chamber, said more than 20 restaurants will participate in the festivities this year, offering special deals, prix fixe menus and more.

“Every single area in this county is covered — Lansford, Summit Hill, Lake Harmony, Palmerton. Every area is participating this year, and they’re giving specials and highlighting a lot, so we want everyone to get out there and enjoy the week,” Kissner said.

“This is really a great week for us as an organization to promote a lot of hidden gems within the county.”

The wide variety of restaurants is guaranteed to please any palate, from the fine dining aficionado to the burger-and-fry fiend.

Nick’s Lakehouse will be offering appetizers like duck poutine, featuring shoestring fries topped with duck bacon, cheese curd, green apples and duck gravy. The $15 lunch special at The Palmerton One Ten Tavern features a choice of five appetizers and four entrees, including wonton pork nachos, twisted Reubens and 8-ounce mushroom Swiss burgers. Those hankering for some sweets should swing by Slopeside Pub and Grill for a house-made apple pierogi, butterscotch, candied pecans and vanilla ice cream dessert.

Some restaurants are going even further, with specialty promotions and ingredients that focus on the local community.

“Joey B’s, they’re doing different events for each day, with proceeds going to charity. Slopeside, they’re serving things that are all locally grown,” Davis said.

The chamber is encouraging the community to connect and share their Restaurant Week experiences through their Facebook page.

To keep on top of all the excitement, Davis recommends checking out the chamber’s page and signing up for text updates.

“Go to www.discovercarbonpa.com, and click on the Taste of Carbon County Restaurant Week banner, and you can see all of the menus and the participating restaurants,” Davis said.

“We’re also doing a text messaging service, with highlights, giveaways and more. Anyone can participate by texting ccedctaste to 33791.”

Restaurant Week runs from April 16 to 22.

“Go out and try something new in the county. There are a lot of good dishes being served at our Carbon County restaurants,” Davis said.
