Give & Take Day

A free PA Earth Day activity will take place at the Monroe Campus of Northampton Community College Route 715 in Tannersville. It is the Close the Loop’s 10th Annual Give & Take Day on April 21, and is for Monroe County residents only.

Bring good things you no longer need between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. then take away anything you wants from 1:30 to 3 p.m. You do not need to bring something in order to take something. It is all free.

Examples of items being accepted include: household goods, pots/pans, toys, bric-a-brac, bikes, plants, kitchenware, garden tools, small furniture (must be in good shape to be accepted), gently used clothes, etc.

Examples of things that will not be accepted: electronics — except for recycling computer devices, TVs, computer monitors, tires, household hazardous waste, etc.

Provide your own vehicle for transporting items. Volunteers will be assisting and reviewing the items being dropped off.

Other events happening are: Tire Amnesty — Monroe County residents can drop off up to eight passenger tires (no cut tires will be accepted); E-Cycling collection — Monroe County residents can drop off TVs/computers, up to eight items total.

No commercial/businesses permitted.

Eldred tax office

The tax collector’s office will be closed on April 24. The office will reopen at 1 p.m. April 26.

April 30, is the final day for the discount period. The office will be open from 2 to 6 p.m.

May bike blessing

At noon May 6 is the new time set aside for the annual Blessing of the Bikes for the American Legion Riders Chapter 927. It will take place at the Legion Post Home in Gilbert, on the corner of Route 209 and Fairgrounds Road.

The public is invited.

Relay for Life

The West End Relay for Life will take place June 2 at the Pleasant Valley High School beginning at 10 a.m.
