Tamaqua fire is declared accidental

A Sunday afternoon fire in Tamaqua has been declared accidental, with no determined point of origin.

All four companies of the Tamaqua Volunteer Fire Department responded to 310 Arlington St. after the alarm sounded at 3:38 p.m. The fire started at the southeast corner of the double home and quickly made its way into the attic. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to declare it under control, although the scene wasn’t cleared until 5 p.m.

The home is owned by David Hartz of Tamaqua and was occupied by renters Barbara Francis and Alice Lenaha. The other side of the double, 308, is owned by Ron Kabana, but was unoccupied at the time.

Both homes are covered by insurance.

Also assisting at the scene were members of the Tamaqua Police Department, Tamaqua Fire Police, Tamaqua Community Ambulance, Tamaqua Rescue Squad and the Carbon Rapid Intervention Team with members of the Lansford and Summit Hill Fire Departments.

There were no reported injuries.
