Traffic was backed up Thursday afternoon because of electrical crews replacing a pole that had been hit by a car across from the Sunoco Parkmart on Route 209,
A spokesman with Miller Brothers electrical contractor said the pole was damaged at the bottom and unstable. The 45-foot pole was leaning, broken at ground level. The company brought in five trucks to help stabilize the pole so lines could be disconnected. A hoist and sling were used to stabilize it at the ground, with other braces at the top.
Energy blankets and rubber hoses coated the lines so the crews could work as traffic was diverted to one lane.
Power was cut to neighboring businesses for about an hour. The process took more than six hours, but the crews have been activated since the wind storm Wednesday. Crews from Quebec Energy were also in the Poconos, fixing power lines knocked down in the wind.
