A winter weather advisory is in effect until 1 p.m., with snow falling over the region.

 Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected with isolated amounts of 6 inches in the higher elevations of the southern Poconos and northwest New Jersey, expected.

Plan on very difficult travel conditions, including during this morning`s commute. Expect poor visibilities below one-half mile at times in heavy snow. Road conditions will be highly dependent on snowfall rates and elevation as rates greater than one inch per hour and slightly colder temperatures in the hilly terrain will allow for  untreated roads to become snow covered. High temperatures this afternoon in the 40s will lead to rapid melting.

Tuesday: Rain, snow, and sleet likely before noon, then rain. Patchy fog before noon. High near 47. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation expected. 

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. South wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
