Borough egg hunts
An Easter egg hunt will be held at the Palmerton Memorial Park on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
An Easter egg hunt will also be held at the Palmerton Borough Park on Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m. Plan to bring your kiddies to both events.
Exhibit
Palmerton and the Zinc Industry is being featured at the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 Walnut St., Allentown, 610-435-1074 and www.lehighvalleyheritagemuseum.org. It is being held now through May 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day except Mondays. There is an admission charge.
Train meet
The Carbon Model Railroad Society is sponsoring its Spring Train Meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Palmerton Area High School Gymnasium, 3533 Fireline Road, Palmerton. There is an admission charge. Free parking. This is a model railroad, toy train and railroadiania sale. Refreshments will be available.
Computer classes
Sign up now for computer classes at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave. Introduction to computers begins April 3. Intermediate computer skills starts May 1. Call 610-826-3424 to reserve your spot.
First UCC
Holy Week Observations at First United Church of Christ, 475 Delaware Ave., Palmerton will begin with the celebration again of Christ’s entry into Jerusalem for the final time on Sunday with worship at 9 a.m. On March 29 there will be a Maundy Thursday service at St. Paul’s UCC in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. On March 30 at 7:30 p.m. will be a Tenebrae service at First UCC.
Holy Trinity Lutheran
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship with Holy Communion on Palm Sunday at 10:15 a.m. This service will include First Holy Communion. Maundy Thursday services on March 29 will be held at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew’s. Good Friday services on March 30 will be held at Holy Trinity at 7 p.m.
Caregiver support group
Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group meets every month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the third floor Conference Room of the Palmerton Hospital, 135 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. The next meeting is Monday. Attendance is free and anyone seeking support and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia is welcome to attend. Ham and dandelion dinner
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville), is holding a ham and dandelion dinner from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Tickets are sold at the door and take out is available.
Jerusalem UCC
Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will hold worship services at 9 and 10:30 a.m. on Palm Sunday. Filling pickup is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. During the 9 a.m. service the Sunday school and nursery will have an egg hunt. Parents of nursery children are encouraged to join their children for this fun event. Bring a basket or one can be provided.
March 29 Maundy Thursday Taize Service is at 7 p.m. March 30 Good Friday Tenebrae Service is at 7 p.m.
Good Friday fish dinner
The 30th annual Good Friday fish dinner will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. March 30 at the Aquashicola Fire Company, 270 Little Gap Road, Palmerton. Takeout is available by calling 610-826-2066 during the fish dinner hours. There will be a 50/50 and small prize auction.
Food Pantry
The Food Pantry for Palmerton area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing Township and Lower Towamensing Township, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown. Food distribution is the fourth Friday of each month.
The Palmerton Food Bank is in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items and monetary donations. If you can help please bring food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Bus trip
The Friends of the Palmerton Area Library are sponsoring a bus trip to One Liberty Observation Deck and the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia on April 21. The bus leaves from Palmerton at 7:45 a.m. and returns at 6 p.m. For cost and information, stop by or call the library at 610-826-3424.
