Natalie A. Lanza, 56, of Kunkletown, was cited by state police at the Lehighton barracks with failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle crash at 10:02 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Weir Mountain and Mill Pond roads in Polk Township.
Police said she was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Weir Mountain Road at a speed too fast for conditions when the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop and struck the rear bumper of a 2008 BMW operated northbound by John Johnson, 66, of Saylorsburg. The latter was also traveling northbound.
Police said Lanza appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was taken for a chemical test of her blood, the results of which are pending.
Johnson sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bartonsville.
