Update: Bullet found in Panther Valley cafeteria

A bullet was found on the floor of the Panther Valley Junior/Senior High School this morning, prompting a lockdown for several hours while police and dogs searched the school.

No other threats were found and the lockdown was lifted at 1:50 p.m.

Police from Summit Hill, Lansford, Nesquehoning and Coaldale responded, as well as state police, and Salisbury K-9 patrol.

The 45-caliber bullet was found immediately after a lockdown drill was conducted this morning.

Superintendent Dennis Kergick said the students missed lunch, but everyone was safe.

The building and all cars were searched, according to Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos.

A camera is located in the cafeteria, but Fittos said there are no suspects at this point.
