Fourteen defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas before Judge Steven R. Serfass on Monday in Carbon County court.

Admits hit/run

Heather M. Summers

, 29, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded guilty to one count each of hindering apprehension, driving under suspension and damage to an unattended vehicle (hit and run).

She was charged for an incident on June 30, 2017, filed by Jim Thorpe police. Police responded to the area of South Avenue for a report of a hit and run. The striking vehicle was identified as a Budget U-Haul truck. Police eventually found Summers and she admitted to the hit and run. She also admitted driving under suspension and also in the hindering of police taking into custody a man she had with her at the time, who had an outstanding warrant, which she knew about.

On the hindering charge Serfass placed her on probation for 24 months and ordered her to render 100 hours of community service. On the other two counts she was fined a total of $800 and costs.

Other pleas

Michael John Popovich

, 43, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident on Sept. 25, 2016, involving a woman. Troopers responded to a domestic incident along Markham Way in Penn Forest Township.

Popovich was placed on probation for 24 months and ordered to render 100 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Jeffrey M. Dennis

, 37, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested on Jan. 26 by Jim Thorpe police for an incident in the 400 block of Center Street with his wife the listed victim.

He was sentenced to time-served (20 days) to 23 months in prison and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 100 hours of community service.

Jon Scott Snyder,

18, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of criminal trespass, a felony 3. He was charged by Palmerton police for an incident on Oct. 15, 2017, in the 400 block of Lehigh Avenue. Police were dispatched for a reported fight and found a garage had been entered.

Serfass sentenced him to time-served (20 days) to one day less 24 months in prison and ordered he make restitution of $602.32, his share, render 100 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample.

Erik Michael Schock

, 26, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property. He was arrested on May 16, 2013, by Lehighton police for entering a residence in the borough. A charge of criminal conspiracy — burglary was dropped in a plea bargain. He told Serfass he acted as “lookout” while two co-defendants entered the home.

He was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for violation conditions.

Serfass placed him on probation for 24 months and ordered he make restitution of $1,658.33, his share, and render 100 hours of community service.

Zoey Danielle Bartenope

, 21, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested on July 20, 2017, by Palmerton police for stealing $98.05 worth of merchandise from the Dollar General Store along Delaware Avenue.

Sentencing was deferred. She is currently an inmate in the county prison.

Brenton Wayne Gruber

, 33, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of retail theft. He was arrested on Dec. 17, 2017, by Palmerton police at the Carbon Mini Mart for taking $11.44 worth of merchandise.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 75 hours of community service and say out of the store. There was no restitution as the stolen item was recovered.

Donn M. Walck

, 41, of Schnecksville, pleaded to one count of misrepresents or conceals contractor identifying information. He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police for taking $1,300 from a borough resident to do work at her residence and never did any of the work.

Sentencing was deferred. Walck is currently an inmate in the county prison.

John Wasyliw

, 54, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of terroristic threats. He was charged by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident around Sept. 12, 2017, when he made threats against courthouse officials stemming from a custody dispute.

Sentencing was deferred as Serfass ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.

Dina Lynne Catletti

, 36, of Bethlehem, pleaded to one count of criminal mischief with a count of burglary dropped in a plea bargain. She was charged by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident on Feb. 27, 2017, along Iowa Road in Penn Forest Township with a female resident the victim.

She was sentenced to time-served (29 days) to 18 months in prison and ordered to make restitution of $2,213.50 and render 75 hours of community service.

Bobbi Joe Simmons,

37, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of unsworn falsification to authorities. She was charged by Lehighton police for an incident on Nov. 1, 2017, in which she reported a theft that didn’t occur.

She was placed on probation for 24 months and ordered to render 100 hours of community service.

Courtney Dickson,

23, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of harassment. She was arrested on April 12, 2017, by Jim Thorpe, for harassing a female borough resident by text messages.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Reinaldo Magobet,

42, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of harassment. He was charged by Jim Thorpe police for an incident on Jan. 6 involving a female resident.

He was sentenced to time-served (19 days) to 90 days in jail and ordered to continue anger management counseling and pay a fine of $300.

Leah Farber,

23, of Andreas, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy — receiving stolen property. She was charged by Lehighton police for an incident at the high-rise building where she attempted to gain access to a resident’s checking account. There is a co-defendant in the case. She was previously placed in the ARD program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.

Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
