A more modern drive-thru experience will eventually greet patrons who eat at the McDonald’s in Hometown.
The Rush Township Zoning Hearing Board on Tuesday granted a variance from a section of the township zoning ordinance to McDonald’s USA LLC, according to zoning board solicitor William Burke.
McDonald’s sought relief from a section of the zoning ordinance to permit four digital menu boards in lieu of the maximum allowed amount of two. Currently, there are three existing; four were proposed.
Burke said the variance request was granted to allow McDonald’s to have four signs, two of which will be menu signs, and the other two to display their wares.
The McDonald’s is located at 3 Lincoln Drive, on the western side of the intersection of Lincoln Drive and Mahanoy Area.
Initially, a hearing on the matter had been scheduled for last month, but was ultimately continued.
