The Jim Thorpe community watch meetings schedule for 2018 has been announced.
The first meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 15 in Memorial Hall, 101 E. 10th St., with borough police chief Joseph Schatz the speaker.
The remaining schedule follows: April 19, District Attorney Jean Engler will speak on the criminal justice system; May 17, a representative of the Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank will speak on protecting your finances; June 21, a representative of the county EMA (emergency preparedness) will speak; Aug. 16, state Rep. Doyle Heffley will speak on legislative issues; Sept. 20, a K-9 unit from the state will put on a demonstration; and Oct. 18, a program honoring community watch members will be held.
