A Lehighton man has been charged after his car got stuck on the railroad tracks in Nesquehoning.

On Jan. 19 at 2:19 p.m. officer Timothy Wuttke was dispatched to the intersection of Industrial Road and Park Avenue for a vehicle on train tracks.

While en route, Wuttke observed a Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad train traveling in the direction of the intersection and radioed the communications center to contact the railroad company to stop the train.

On scene Wuttke found a Volkswagen GTI stuck on the rails.

The driver was identified as Luke Ronald Blisard, 19, of the 1000 block of Main Road, Lehighton. Blisard told police he was attempting to back his vehicle onto the rails of the train tracks and was going to take a picture of his car on the rails to post on the internet.

He said as he backed up, his vehicle fell off the rails and got stuck. Wuttke said the approaching train was stopped. It took about 45 minutes to remove the car from the tracks.

Wuttke charged Blisard with two counts of railroad protection, railroad vandalism and interference with transportation facilities, which are third-degree misdemeanors; careless driving and persistent disorderly conduct, which are both summaries.
