Carbon County court — DUI
A Kunkletown woman was sentenced to a prison term in Carbon County court on Monday on two driving under the influence charges.
She was one of nine defendants to enter guilty pleas to DUI counts before President Roger N. Nanovic II.
High counts
Kristin Doran
, 45, pleaded guilty to a DUI charge stemming from an incident on April 16, 2016, along Kunkletown Road, in Towamensing Township, filed by state police at Lehighton. She previously pleaded to another DUI count for an incident on June 19, 2017, along Pohopoco Drive, also in Towamensing Township.
In both incidents, Nanovic noted, a blood test showed the blood alcohol content to be very high. In the 2016 incident a test revealed a 0.26 BAC; and the 2017 incident a 0.30 BAC.
Nanovic said the high readings were a concern for the court. He said, “The excessive blood-alcohol readings are exasperating your medical condition.”
Doran had told the court she has medical problems including depression, for which she is receiving counseling.
On the first count Nanovic placed her on probation for six months and imposed a fine of $300.
On the second count Doran was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in prison, a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension. On a charge of driving under suspension, DUI related, which she previously pleaded to, she was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail and a fine of $1,000. The jail terms run concurrently.
