Understanding others
Zion Lutheran Church will host a free educational program, “The Brain,” at 4 p.m. on Feb. 18. The two-part DVD series will be presented by Dave Fetterman, a member of Zion’s and licensed counselor with more than 40 years of clinical experience in the behavioral health field.
The program is designed to help improve understanding humanity through a better understanding of the human brain. Originally presented by PBS, it is considered appropriate material for those 14 and older.
The first DVD deals with issues such as What Is Reality? What makes me? Who is in control? The second DVD will be presented at a date yet to be determined.
A brief question and answer period will be held following the presentation.
The public is welcome to attend.
Hunger walk
Tamaqua’s 2018 Hunger Weekend will be held May 4, 5 and 6, ending with a Hunger Walk on May 6. A combined effort of the Tamaqua Area Faith and Fellowship Network and the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership, the three-day event will benefit Tamaqua’s three food pantries — Primitive Methodist Church, Trinity United Church of Christ and the Tamaqua Salvation Army.
It’s not too early to think about ways to raise funds, collect nonperishable food items or organize a walking team.
