Carbon County court — DUI

Six defendants were sentenced on Friday on driving under the influence charges after previously pleading guilty.

Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed the sentences.

Jeremy Hollrigl,

24, of White Haven, was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program — house arrest — with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 100 hours of community service.

He was arrested on April 24, 2017, along Plane Street by Weatherly police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He will begin serving the prison term on Jan. 28 at 9 p.m. and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.

Richard Thomas O’Gozalek

, 54, of Lansford, was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 25 hours of community service. The term runs concurrent with a sentence he is already serving imposed by the county court on other charges.

He was arrested on Nov. 25, 2016, along Route 209 in Lansford by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.24 BAC.

Tony Allen Stoeckel

, 31, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 30 days to two years on a DUI charge. He also previously pleaded to a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police, to which he was sentenced to serve two to one day less 24 months in prison, with the terms running concurrently.

He was arrested on May 28, 2016, along Mermon Avenue by Nesquehoning police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was operating a motorcycle and fled officers at a high rate of speed before being caught.

Additionally he was fined $500, one-year license suspension, supply a DNA sample and render a total of 100 hours of community service when paroled.

He applied for placement in the IPP but was denied.

He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on Feb. 2. He was granted work-release privileges.

Ryan Patrick Leary

, 33, of Hellertown, Lehigh County, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On a summary offense he was fined $25 and costs.

He was arrested on July 22, 2017, along the turnpike in Kidder Township by state police at the Pocono barracks. A test revealed a 0.26 BAC.

He will begin the jail term on Feb. 3 at noon and serve two days, and at noon on Feb. 9 and serve three days.

Joseph Brizinski Jr.

, 38, of Scranton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He was arrested on Nov. 24, 2016, along Maury Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He will begin the jail term at 10 a.m. on Feb. 2.

Gregory R. Oliver

, 26, of Weatherly, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He was arrested on June, 1, 2016, by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was given credit for six days already served and paroled.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
