Zion Opera Workshop presents ‘Hello, Dolly!’ for its 48th Annual Production

Zion Opera Workshop presents “Hello, Dolly!” March 1-3 at the church, 225 Iron St. in Lehighton.

Becky Herd, a veteran of Zion Opera Workshop, portrays lead character Dolly Levi, a matchmaker who has her eye on Horace Vandergelder, played by Christopher DeForest.

Horace, the owner of a feed and grain store, is assisted by employees, Cornelius Hackle and Barnaby Tucker, played by Christopher Pavlick and Brandon Cressley.

Barnaby and Cornelius venture to New York City where they find themselves hiding from Vandergelder in a hat shop owned by widow Irene Malloy, played by the group’s stage director, Jessica Schafer. Malloy’s assistant, Minnie Fay, is played by Laura Cressley.

Dolly also has her hands in the budding relationship of artist Ambrose Kemper, played by Adam Reichard, and Vandergelder’s niece Ermengard, played by Amy Shelly.

Michelle Stoudt plays Ernestina Money. Stoudt has been in many shows with ZOW, including a past performance where she played Irene Malloy. Karen Serfass plays Mrs. Rose.

A group of zany waiters working at the Harmonia Gardens restaurant is headed by Zack Sessock, as Rudolph. His staff consists of Stanley, played by Mitchell Hourt, Eliza Asmann as Fritzie, Dylan Coffin as Harry, Ethan Malkowicz as Manny, and Aidan Malloy as Hank. The first cook and second cooks are played by Parker Fairchild and Brian Kessek.

Rounding out the cast are Roger Pomposello, Casi Short, Michael Bongiorno, Candace Malkowicz, Tina Becker, Tara Crowe, Bethany Evans and Hannah Smith, Kylie Kresge, Hailey Broskey, Martha Cox, Calvin Maholick, Hannah Schweitzer, Kristen Campbell, Felicia-Sue Anthony, Dorothy Getz, Jo DeForest, Heather Brown, Cincera Rehrig, Logan Kester and Emma McCormick.

Technical directors are Pati and Duane Reichard.

Choreography is by Deb Strausberger, from TNT Dance of Lehighton.

The rehearsal pianist is Lisa Schweitzer.

Zion Opera Workshop is under the direction and supervision of Bradly R. Cressley, director of music at Zion UCC.
