A Weatherly man is accused of indecent assault of a child.

Gary Lester Beacham, 73, of the 1000 block of Louise Street, faces a charge of indecent assault on a person less than 13 years old.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Michael Bogart of the Weatherly Police Department:

On Sept. 26, the girl, whose age is not listed, told a relative that Beacham had touched her private area.

The relative made an appointment with the pediatrician the next day and called to report it to the Weatherly Police Department.

The Luzerne County child advocacy center interviewed the girl and charges were filed.

Beacham was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge Joseph Homanko of Weatherly.

Bail was set at $10,000, which was posted.
