State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating an incident involving the attempted purchase of a firearm in Monroe County that was denied.
Police said the incident dates back to Oct. 13 of last year at 818 Interchange Road, Polk Township. Although police did not identify the business, an internet search lists The Armory at that address in Kresgeville.
Police said a 55-year-old man from Lehman Township, Pike County, completed state and federal applications and records for the sale/transfer of a firearm but was subsequently denied the request.
Police said they are investigating possible violations of state statutes, including one dealing with the sale or transfer of a firearms and another relating to the unsworn falsification to authorities for statements contained on the application.
