The Palmerton Area School Board announced it has found a new superintendent to replace Andrew J. Mihalik Jr., who resigned in August.
Ralph Cortazzo, president of the board, said the candidate will be introduced to the public immediately following the Jan. 12 board meeting.
William D. Starr of Coopersburg was appointed to the position at a salary of $42,000. Starr had been serving as the administrative assistant for curriculum and instruction in the Quakertown Community School District.
Cortazzo said 79 inquiries were made about the opening and 59 candidates were considered for the position.
