The 13th annual Lehigh River Blues Jam will take place from 3 to 10 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Jetport Ballroom at the Allentown Days Hotel, 3400 Airport Road in Allentown.
The event will raise awareness for ALS, as one of their own “Blues Brothers” has recently been diagnosed with this incurable disease. There will brochures and information available on ALS throughout the day.
There will be a selection of vendors showcasing regional crafters/artisans selling and displaying their wares.
This year’s headliner is power blues rock trio Dustin Douglas & The Electric Gentlemen.
Other acts include Philadelphia’s own Dukes of Destiny. The weekly “Jam Hosts,” The BC Combo will feature an all-star showcase with Charlie Brown, Joe Mac, Bill Lance, Paul Greig, Jeffrey “Doc Z” Zlotnik, Cherie Cook, Poppa Cook, “Stevie Ray” Ward, Kim Brewer and Dane Tilghman.
Returning by popular demand are the Lehigh Valley’s James Supra Band and the Little Red Rooster Blues Band, who have been playing the blues in the Greater Philly area since 1988; and Lehigh Valley favorites, Midnight Shift featuring Mike Mettalia, who was recently diagnosed with ALS.
After all event expenses are met, organizers will be donating to Mettalia to aid him with his medical expenses.
An After Jam party will take place from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the Jetport Bar & Lounge, hosted by Scranton’s Sheila & Mark Hamza Band.
Snow date is April 14.
