State police at Fern Ridge investigate crashes
State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in recent days.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 8:52 a.m. Jan. 5 along East Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Christine E. Miller, 52, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2013 Honda Accord eastbound when she lost control while negotiating a left-hand curve. The Honda traveled off the right side of the road with the front end striking a tree.
Miller was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, by Lehighton ambulance.
• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 2:01 p.m. Jan. 5 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Robyn A. Smiley, 42, of Kunkletown, was driving a Subaru Legacy northbound and approaching the West End Plaza while Paul D. Mastronardi, 57, also of Kunkletown, was northbound driving a Dodge Durango behind Smiley. Smiley slowed down, attempting a left turn when Mastronardi lost control of his vehicle. The front of the Dodge struck the rear of the Subaru.
Both drivers and two passengers with Smiley sustained suspected minor injuries but did not require medical attention. Mastronardi was cited for following too closely.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 2 p.m. Jan. 10 along Running Valley Road in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Constance Poremba, 55, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound when she failed to negotiate a right turn. The Jetta left the road and landed in a ditch. Poremba was not injured. The Jetta was towed.
• Troopers reported a crash occurred at 7:31 p.m. Jan. 10 at the intersection of Route 209 and an unnamed street in Chestnuthill Township involving vehicles driven by Yasmine A. Muey, 35, of Lehighton, and Matthew P. Hnatowicz, 50, of Palmerton. No crash details were released, however, the police report indicated that Muey and a 16-year-old passenger from Lehighton were injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, East Stroudsburg campus, by West End ambulance for treatment of injuries. Hnatowicz was not injured.
• Troopers investigated a crash at 2:59 p.m. Sunday along Smith Hill Road in Chestnuthill Township. Zachary M. Borger, 21, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 2002 Honda Civic northbound when his vehicle hit a patch of ice causing him to lose control. The Honda rolled onto its roof and came to rest facing southeast in the left lane of travel.
Borger and his passenger, Ryan M. Borger, 19, same address, were not injured.
