A property owner in Towamensing Township can move forward with plans to combine nine lots which had been part of a halted housing development, the Carbon County planning commission ruled on Tuesday.
The commission reviewed two applications regarding lots in Towamensing and Lower Towamensing Township during their regular monthly meeting.
They voted unanimously to recommended conditional approval for an application by SAS Development Inc.
SAS plans to combine nine undeveloped lots located near the intersection of Pohopoco Drive and Koch Road. The lots total 13.199 acres and were part of the planned Pohopoco Farms Residential Subdivision.
The lots, which are zoned residential, were never sold, and a proposed road, Hawkbill Drive, was never built.
Planner Ivan O. Meixell Jr. noted several minor changes that should be made to the plan before the Towamensing Township supervisors vote to grant final approval for the project.
The planning commission also recommended that the Lower Towamensing supervisors reject a plan to divide a property located in the township’s Rural Conservation zone. The property owners, Charles and Irmgard F. Dunbar, proposed two separate lots on 11.349 acres between Drift Road and Summer Mountain roads.
The commission also reviewed a DEP water quality management permit application from the Kline-Banks-McAdoo Regional Authority to add equipment at its wastewater treatment plant. Meixell said he informed the authority that the project was consistent with the county comprehensive plan, as well as local ordinances.
Planning commission meetings will be held the third Monday of the month at 2 p.m. at the county 911 center.
