Galen Glen Winery, 255 Winter Mountain Drive, Andreas, will host its fifth annual chili cook-off from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 20. Five chefs will be participating.
The winery started the competition to offer their guests a way to beat the winter blues. It’s also a fundraising effort to benefit The West Penn Fire Company.
Guests to the winery, over the age of 21, will pay a set fee and receive a glass of select wines, a taste of each chef’s chili and a ballot to vote for their favorite.
Competing this year is a firehouse chef, two professional chefs from local restaurants and a past runner-up. Chefs hail from Bowmanstown, Jim Thorpe, Brodheadsville, Palmerton and New Ringgold.
In the event of snow, the cook-off will take place on Jan. 27. Updates will be posted to the winery’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest pages.
