Snow and ice on a Schuylkill County road was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that was reported about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday along Route 61 in Butler Township.

State police at Frackville said Mark J. Chuplis, 59, of Ashland, was driving a 1999 Buick Park Avenue when the vehicle struck snow and ice on the shoulder of the road. That caused the Buick to go onto the berm and strike an embankment before returning to the road and coming to rest.

Chuplis was not injured.
