Charges are pending following a fatal crash that occurred on Friday afternoon in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 61 and Municipal Road in West Brunswick Township at 2:14 p.m.

Troopers said a vehicle was traveling in the right lane of Route 61 northbound while a second vehicle was traveling along Municipal Road. Troopers said the northbound vehicle came through a steady red light as the second vehicle was crossing the intersection. The northbound vehicle struck the driver side of the vehicle crossing the intersection.

The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the first vehicle and passenger refused medical treatment.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin of the deceased. The driver of the first vehicle is facing charges. The investigation is continuing.
