Carbon County court — ARD
Seven first-time offenders were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Thursday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.
If a person successfully completes the program, their record is wiped clean. If they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, they would face trial on charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.
Brian L. Bailey
, 60, of Lehighton, on a driving under the influence charge. He was arrested on Aug. 20, 2017, by Lehighton police along Iron Street. A test revealed a 0.24 BAC. He was assessed $550 for the cost of the program and his license was suspended for 60 days.
Joshua Michael Bertalan
, 22, of Kunkletown, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 25, 2016, by Lehighton police along Bridge Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 90 days.
Kevin Ray Booth Jr.
, 26, of Coplay, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 28, 2017, along Sand Quarry Road by Palmerton police. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC. He was assessed $650 and his license was suspended for 60 days.
Christian Brea
, 21, of Hazleton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Aug. 16, 2017, along Interchange Road by Franklin Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 90 days.
Samantha Ward Crozier
, 24, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on July 4, 2016, along Center Avenue in Jim Thorpe by state police at Lehighton. She refused a blood test.
She was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days. She is currently an inmate in the Northampton County, serving a sentence in another matter.
Dallas Krotzer, 35, of Lansford, was placed for nine months on a charge of terroristic threats. He was arrested by state police at Lehighton for an incident on July 26, 2017, for making a threatening post on Facebook.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, complete an anger management course and have no contact with the victims.
Scott D. Goodhile, 30, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Aug. 19, 2017, along First Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC. He was assessed $550 and license was suspended for 60 days.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and those charged with DUI, follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
