Funding needed

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s Fundraising goal for this holiday season was $10,000 which is the average cost for four home preservation projects in Monroe County.

MCHFH has successfully partnered with 11 families in need to complete necessary home repairs so far this fiscal year. With the goal of completing 19 more home repairs before July 1, MCHFH is in need of more support.

To learn more contact about MCHFH’s program and how to donate, contact Executive Director Kelly Kemmerer, by email at execdirector@habitatmc.org or call 570-216-4390.

Stop the Bleed

Effort UMC is hosting a Stop the Bleed training session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 20, at the church on Merwinsburg Road as being presented by the Cetronia Ambulance Corps.

Massive bleeding from any cause, but particularly from an active shooter or explosive event where a response is delayed can result in death is the explanation. Similar to how the general public learns and performs CPR, the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, dressings and tourniquets. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within 5 to 10 minutes.

To register contact Stephen Hall NRP, Cetronia Ambulance Corps, at halls@cetronia.org or at 610-398-0239, ext. 517, or go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/stop-the-bleed-tickets-40912897578.
