Three drivers facing DUI charges in Carbon

Three people who were stopped by state police at the Lehighton barracks for traffic violations are facing charges of driving under the influence.

• The first stop was made at 3:31 a.m. Dec. 17 along Pohopoco Drive in Towamensing Township. Police said Jocelyn Marie Russo, 20, was driving a Toyota Scion when she was stopped for a traffic violation. Police said she was under the influence, resulting in police requesting her to submit to a blood test.

• The second stop was made at 11:25 p.m. Dec. 22 along Forest inn Road, Towamensing Township. Police said a 28-year-old man committed several traffic violations and was stopped. Police suspected he was driving while under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken to Palmerton Hospital for a blood-alcohol test, the results of which are pending. His name was not released.

• A 25-year-old man was also transported to Palmerton Hospital for a blood-alcohol test after he was stopped at 6:17 a.m. Sunday along Route 248 in Franklin Township. Police said the man was stopped as a suspect in a previously reported hit-and-run crash that occurred on Route 443 in Mahoning Township. Police determined he was driving while under the influence of alcohol. His name was not released. Police said the results of the BAC test are pending.
